I happen to be at CHIJMES yesterday for a short while. Here's sharing the photos with my readers here, and with Mistipurple. Thank you for being around.

ah, the courtyard. this part is nearer to st.nicholas, our sister school which is the chinese ed. side. this is forbidden ground for us. actually, there were many 'taboo' areas that we were not allowed near. the nuns' quarters were also off limits. CHIJ has many nooks and corners that led to even more hideouts.

considering that it housed the primary, secondary and pre-u schools, and the st.nicholas chinese girls', it was a huge ground considered. a note of curiousity, i don't know where the orphans lived in there. it is a very intriguing and mysterious place. that is one reason why i often had dreams of that place long after my secondary years.

i visited your other blogspace with 'more glimpses of chijmes'. thank you. i thoroughly enjoyed the walk.

Hi Mistipurple, Thank you for sharing those precious memories with me. Maybe I should ask if I could interview you one day at CHIJMES to find out more about CHIJ's past from the verbatim of you who have studied there.

I didn't know there's so many forbidden grounds. *winks*

Misti: Ah, your age is an asset here, you have lots to contribute about our heritage.

SA: CHIJ, as best as I remember, was set up by the French missionaries, who were Catholics. See link. If it had reminded you of England....it might have been England before King Henry VIII's times?

Pinkie: China Jump? That is new to me.

Kunstemaecker: Oh, we meet on the blogs most of the time.*winks*

When I was in Singapore, we also went to Chijmes. Cool place. I liked the playing of classical guitar that time. Great food, great crowd.
